JumpinGoat Coffee Roasters atop the mountaintops
High atop the Blue Ridge Mountains is a peaceful respite for anyone seeking a quiet cup of coffee or breathtaking landscapes. Far from eerie, you can pause and watch the slow roll of misty clouds as they settle on the tree tops across the lush green valley. JumpinGoat Coffee Roasters is a perfectly sized coffee house with a wine bar tucked inside, and numerous outdoor spaces, all thoughtfully decked out with comfortable furniture and views.
Attached to the coffee shop is a huge screened lanai the size of a small restaurant with glorious high ceilings. If there are any bugs out or if it briefly rains, this is the place to be. It is also close to the order counter, to get a refill or re-pour on your drink.
Refill you will, because the drinks are delicious. Coffee is available with infusions of wine, bourbon, and pecan if you decide to take some coffee home with you. Much appreciated is the smaller two ounce bags of coffee that allow you to try a lot of different roasts without committing to buying a whole eight ounce bag.
Outside facing the mountains is a beautiful expanse of green with lounge chairs perfect for working, studying or chatting with friends. In fact, many families or groups often meet up in this grassy area. Close to Helen and surrounding areas, it offers a peaceful and private retreat.
An outdoor pavilion has spots for those preferring shade but still wanting to be outside. It is right next to the grassy seating area so you can meander back and forth. With so many options for seating, it is fortunate they all share the same gorgeous view of the mountains. We could not find any goats, but there is most certainly a fantastic origin story behind this mountaintop gem.
